On the Why? screen, the Sender and Trust groups say what 1krBlocker knows about who sent the message. On their own, these reasons are never proof of a scam: most messages from new numbers are fine. They matter together with what the message asks you to do.
Reasons that add risk:
- "Sender isn’t in your contacts and you’ve never written to them (…)": a stranger, as far as your phone knows.
- "First message ever from this sender": scammers usually write from new numbers.
- "Number is from another country (…)": many scam texts come from abroad. Normal if you have friends or services there.
- "Sender’s number is hidden"
- "Sender name “…” can’t be verified and the message asks for money or a login": the message shows a name instead of a number (like "Bank" or "Parcel"). Anyone can send a message under a name, so a name alone proves nothing when money or a login is asked for.
- "You marked this sender as spam before (… times)" and "You blocked this sender (…)": your own earlier decisions.
Reasons that lower risk:
- "Sender is in your contacts"
- "You’ve written to this sender before (… messages)"
- "You marked this sender as trusted (…)"
Trust lowers the score but never makes a message safe on its own: a friend's phone or account can be misused, so their links are still checked.
"A reply from a scam-reporting service you wrote to" appears on replies from a reporting number such as 7726 after you forwarded a scam; they're expected.
