With an AI plan, 1krNote prepares each note for search by meaning: it sends the note's text to the 1kr server, which asks Google Gemini to turn it into a list of numbers (a search index). The numbers are stored on your phone; the server keeps nothing.
In a note's detail you may see a small status dot: while it says Connecting to embedding service... the note is being prepared, and the AI can't find it yet by meaning.
If it doesn't finish, or you see "Sync failed. Check your connection and try again.":
- Check the internet connection.
- Tap the status dot in the note to try again (or wait: the app retries pending notes when it starts).
- Make sure your plan includes the AI and, on Starter, that your Gemini key works (see "AI messages").
Notes are prepared only on AI plans (on iPhone, also only after you agreed to AI processing). Photos, videos and voice memos are never sent.
